When the federal government gets serious about dealing with crime, who do they depend on for high-tech communications? It's Carolina Sound, of course. We supply courtroom sound and recording systems for the United States District Courthouses in Beaufort, Charleston, Columbia, Florence, and Greenville. We also service the United States Bankruptcy Courthouses in Charleston and Columbia. This installation is in Judge Blatt's courtroom in Charleston. The courtroom, still part of the historic Post Office building on Broad Street, demanded a quality system that would not significantly alter the historic beauty of the room. At the same time, it had to provide all of the functionality that the US District Courts require. Carolina Sound, in cooperation with Walsh-Lowe & Associates (the government's audio systems consultant), designed and installed a system that includes Shure automatic mixing, Rane equalization, Sabine feedback control and Altec-Lansing amplification. This equipment was housed in a custom rack that was carefully concealed within a section of cabinetry in the clerk's desk. Audio-Technica wired microphones and a Shure wireless mic serve the attorneys, the judge, the clerk, the witness. the podium and the gallery. A custom FSR control system allows the judge and clerk complete control over microphone muting and signalling. Carolina Sound used a Sennheiser infrared hearing assistance system to meet ADA requirements without broadcasting private hearings outside of the courtroom walls. Atlas-Soundolier speakers bring the sound to the floor and give the appearance of recessed lights. A custom four-channel recording mixer was constructed to interface the system with a Sony recorder. A custom jack panel allows connection of other recorders or playback devices to allow audio-evidence to be entered and recorded. Special Bose speakers were provided for the judge to make sure he can hear critical testimony with a minimum of background noise. In other courthouses, Carolina Sound has also provided for audio teleconferencing, video teleconferencing and other custom modifications appropriate to each courtroom. Let us show you why everyone from your local city council to the federal government depends on Carolina Sound to meet their conference and courthouse system needs. |
